Fortive Corporation Automation Engineer in Hollister, California
Responsibilities:
This individual will plan and design automation solutions for manufacturing processes. Applicant must be capable of analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force to maximize efficiency; and improving production design for manufacturability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Primary responsibility will be to lead projects in the development and implementation of automation in mechanical assembly, machining, and inspection processes. This will include design, specification, directing and managing vendors, installation, and qualification of automated Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining and inspection processes.
Manage equipment purchase, installation, programming, and maintenance.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment.
Prepare manufacturing documentation.
Work closely with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve issues and provide technical support.
Develop systems and layouts that follow lean manufacturing philosophies of one-piece flow and Kanban, with emphasis on mistake proofing.
Lead and direct meetings with other team members and hourly associates
Manage tooling and gauge design and drawings.
Provide training and guidance to all employee levels in the operation and maintenance of new automated equipment systems and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications – External/internal:
Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping)
Tool and fixture design and GD&T
Strong Project Management skills
Understanding and functional knowledge of PLC’s, low voltage controls, three phase power distribution, vision systems. Electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics
Machine specification and purchase order writing
Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities
Design and application knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards
Solidworks/MS Office suite
Strong Communication skills (written and public speaking)
Education and Experience:
BS in Engineering or equivalent. Manufacturing Automation Engineering from a four-year college or university; or 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 50,400.00 - 93,600.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
