Fortive Corporation Privacy Counsel in Everett, Washington

Fortive Corporation is seeking an engaging and experienced Privacy Counsel to join our Privacy & Information Governance (PRINGO) team. The successful candidate will offer a strong background in privacy law, including experience with the CCPA and HIPAA, and will be responsible for providing legal advice and programmatic guidance on data protection matters across our businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on privacy and data protection matters for our businesses across the United States, including compliance with applicable federal and state laws and sectoral frameworks such as HIPAA.

  • Work closely with others in the PRINGO team to develop and implement privacy policies and procedures including on emerging topics like Artificial Intelligence Governance.

  • Provide first-line legal support on incident escalations, corporate contracting matters worldwide, vendor privacy risk assessments, and data protection impact assessments.

  • Participate in the privacy workstreams on transactional due diligence matters requiring review of responsive materials and assessment of privacy risks.

  • Ensure PRINGO’s library of policies, procedures, and toolkits remains current with changes in relevant laws.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of privacy training and awareness programs.

  • Act as a point of escalation to advise on other privacy queries arising in the business.

  • Monitor and analyze developments in privacy and data protection laws and regulations, and provide guidance on their impact on the company.

  • Unquestionable integrity, excellent judgment.

  • Problem-solving, able to provide solutions or paths to resolution on complex matters.

  • Some travel is required (approx. 20%).

    Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

  • Member in good standing of a US state bar.

  • 4-6 years of experience in privacy law, with experience in US and global privacy data protection laws and regulations.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • An authentic command of your subject matter specialty.

  • Proficiency in a foreign language is desired.

  • Preference for applicants with experience with the GDPR and European privacy principles.

  • Preference for applicants with both law firm and in-house experience.

Everett, WA: The salary range for this position is $140,300 - $260,590

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.
